Step number 1: Plan Ahead
Remember how great you felt after finally moving out of your parent’s house or when you passed the driving test? It’s that great sense of freedom. You feel like you can do almost anything.
That’s kind of what it feels like when you get an affiliate marketing blog started and make the decision to work from home.
One of the most appealing things of all is the flexibility it provides and the opportunity for being your own boss and making your own schedule.
However, just like it was when you moved out of your parents’ home, pretty soon reality starts to kick and all of a sudden you start to realize what you have actually gotten yourself into.
First of all, it occurs to you that lacking accountability (such as not a boss to tell you what to do constantly) means you will need to keep yourself motivated and do the work that is necessary.
When you are an employee, there are certain benefits that have a tendency to be overlooked, as being provided with all of the necessary tools for completing the job.
When you work for yourself you have to find and acquire all of the tools that you will need yourself, and that may start to get expensive, depending on the type of work that you do.
In addition to missing your boss (it actually can happen), there will also be times when you miss the social and lively office environment you once worked in.
Although it does sound very appealing to sit around working in your pajamas, it may be hard to switch into ‘work mode’ at times.
I don’t want to sound like working from home and starting an online business is all doom and gloom. Far from it, actually. It’s great having the talent and skills to forge your own path.
However, it is important that you realize that working from home isn’t an easy ride all of the time. Fortunately, you can prepare yourself for any tough times ahead and get yourself set up to succeed.
